I've had several attempts at the "triangle of doom" and I won't lie, that part IS tricky. There's some good diagrams out there illustrating it. I prefer to stack in the first blue marker to bait the Yesod and go from there. But some other groups have just been baiting it to the side.

I think everyone calling spots is elementary, but having an idea of where people are is important. A set place for purple IS NECESSARY, and I think whoever has the purple should call out that they do. I think one of the things that confuses us is when 2-3 ppl all think they have the purple and they all move together. Whoever has purple just needs to say "Solarus" or "I have it" and go. Hearing that, everyone else knows they can run the other way. Last night, no one said anything. I really think (at this mechanic) that's the only real call out that is necessary; everyone else should be smart enough to create space on their own.

Sol is right. And brings up a good point - several times people mentioned that they "thought they had the purple AOE". We can still assign spots, but let's get in the habit of purple calling it out. It's Da'at in P3 where we will REALLY need to assign spots I believe. No harm in that.
